Overview: This app simulates a star, a planet, and lots of massless dust. The default parameters match those of the Sun and Jupiter (so an orbit takes 12 years and is slightly eccentric). Initially, the dust is uniformly distributed in a circle around the star at the same radius as the initial radius of the planet. Each dust particle gets a tiny random out-of-plane displacement to make this a truly 3‑D simulation. Let it run for a few minutes and you should see accumulation near the L4 and L5 points (60° ahead/behind the planet).

Controlling the Simulation:

• Press Start to start the animation.
• Press Pause to pause the animation.
• Show/Hide Trails leaves trails by not clearing the canvas each frame.
• Show/Hide Dust toggles rendering of dust points.
• +/- zooms in/out.
• FrameRotationRate is a counter-rotation of the “camera”. Setting it to about 0.518 roughly holds Jupiter fixed.
• dt is in years (0.01 ≈ 3.65 days). Use a negative dt to run backwards.
• warp is the number of time steps per frame (higher = faster up to a point).
• n is the number of dust particles.
• m/M is the planet's mass relative to Jupiter's mass (m/M = 1 is Jupiter).
• v/V is the dust velocity relative to Jupiter's velocity.
